Can anyone help answers about plastic surgery?
I am looking for information on having an abdominoplasty, and breast lift. I have researched info and am undecided about wether to get implants. All the pics I’ve seen look funny without them, and I have seen two ways they cut you for the tummy tuck, hip to hip and all the way around. Do you think I would be able to fo back to work in two weeks? I work as a receptionist in a doctors office, so I sit down. I also wonder how much of a different that I will look, and what the cost will be in Alabama. I have my first consultation next Friday and would like to have as much info as I can when I go into the office. If I schedule around the first of May i wonder if I will be well enough to go on vacation at the end of the month. If I have the surgery and lose weight will it look ok or will I have to go back and have more lipo. I would really like to talk with someone that has had this done and would’nt mind sharing pictures. Thanks for anyone that can help.

Well let me start off with by saying I haven’t had any plastic surgery but my mom did have a breast reduction surgery, and ended up having complications that almost caused her to have to have her left breast removed! This was with a supposedly GREAT surgeon in her area.
1. You would be a rare case to be able to return back to work in two weeks unless you are just a SUPER fast healer.
2. Implants- even those new ones- are still dangerous, there aren’t any long term tests done to see what they do to a woman’s body, not to mention how EXTREMELY fake they look and feel to others.
3. Also I don’t see you as being able to do it the same month that you are planning on going on a vacation.
I don’t know how old you are nor your issues with your body that you obviously have but be proud of how you look, and don’t change who you are!

Charlene L has some interesting points. Unfortunately, she also has very little idea what she is talking about. Breast implants are safe. There have been numerous high quality trials and studies that go back more than 30 years attesting to this.
The new 3rd generation implants are particularly safe and give good shape and consistency. As for feeling and looking fake, the USA has only just had silicone shell implants licensed (previously only saline-filled implants were used – water bags really!), so aesthetic quality is now much better.
However, you may not even need implants. If your breasts are big, then a simply uplift (mastopexy) will also make them perky. If you breasts are not so big, then small implants may be needed to complement the rest of your body shape in order to look natural.
Abdominoplasty scars go from hip to hip. They only go round the back if you are having a ‘body lift’. This is reserved for obese patients who have a lot of back and buttock fat in addition to abdominal fat. It is prolonged and difficult surgery and not to be taken lightly.
For abdomioplasty and mastopexy, as you have expressed an interest, your expectations are a little unrealistic I am afraid.
Expect to be in hospital for at least 2 days, but probably closer to 5 as the drains in the abdomen take a little time to settle. You will be unable to return to work for at least 3 weeks, and will not be in much of a holiday mood for closer to 3 months.
This is not simple surgery and will probably take around 4 hours to complete. The risks are there and should be adequately explained by your surgeon. It can be life changing for the better if all goes according to plan, but be realistic and go into it with your eyes open
Good luck
