Weight Problem. Is Liposuction a Solution?
I am 4 ft and 11.75in tall and currently weigh 165lbs. I have gained 40lbs in the last 4-5 months. No, I am not pregnant. I have no idea why I have gained so much weight in such short amount of time. I have been eating healthier, relatively. I have PCOS (polycystic ovaries syndrome), I went to see my dr. to see if the condition has worsen, but the dr. said everything is fine. I am considering liposuction. I have tried eating healthy and exercising, but that doesn’t seem to do anything (not even when I was working at my old job, where I had to walk 8 hrs non-stop, 5 days a week). My aunt had lipo when she was 200lb at the height of 5′3" and her weight reduced to 130lb.
Has anyone out there had liposuction and it gave them the result they were seeking (realistically speaking)?
Should I get liposuction as a solution to achieve weight loss (I want to be 90-110)?
Does anyone know how much liposuction cost in Oregon?
Please post sensibly. Thank you

it’s the short term solution indeed, but you need to alter your lifestyle afterward to keep the result and avoiding gaining back… so, go ahead!!! I think it’s a good start!!!
Good Luck…

Better to see someone who is trained in anti-aging medicine and take a more holistic approach. Sticking to a low Glycemic Index diet will make most people lose weight. Checking your hormone levels and nutritional status may reveal a deficiency that is making you more hungry and making it more difficult to lose weight. Liposuction typically makes you lose inches, but not that much weight. I would consider seeing someone trained in SmartLipo rather than traditional due to the skin tightening effect with this technique. SmartLipo would be 15-20,000$, traditional might be less, but its a much longer recovery with no skin tightening. Better to lose weight first before investing that kind of money.

Have you discussed it with your doctor? That’s who you should ask. I wouldn’t want to do it at all. You need to figure out how you gained the 40 lbs. and stop that way of eating or you’ll just keep gaining even if you have the liposuction. I have no idea how much it costs. I live in Virginia. I wish you the best. You need to feel good about yourself.
How can you walk 8 hrs non-stop, 5 days a week? It looks like you’d be exhausted all of the time. Take care.

No, liposuction isn’t a solution. It doesn’t solve the actual problem which is "Why did you gain weight". Lipo won’t prevent you from gaining the weight again.

Please consider other options before resorting to surgery. Have you tried any herbal weight loss supplements? I tried several of these but Proactol is a the only one that actually helped me to lose weight – about 30 pounds so far.
I know that if I went the lipo route I would gain it all back. With Proacol I eat what I want and do not gain any weight because it flushes out the fat before digestion takes place.

Are you on thyroid meds? I ask because I began thyroid meds in fall 2007 and promptly gained 40 lbs. I found out recently that they were working AGAINST me instead of for me. I went off of them three weeks ago and have already dropped 10 lbs. The meds were telling my brain to shut off my normal thyroid function but the meds weren’t picking up the slack, much less making my thyroid function normally. Just a thought.
